Software for businesses and individuals, straight from the developer

Tell me what is not working.
I will build what is missing.

I build mobile apps, web systems and AI features, or automate repetitive manual work.

Prefer to talk to a person? Book a free 30-minute call and I will reply with a time.

In the Workshop, an automated assistant asks about your task. From your answers it writes a project brief and an estimate. You do not need to register or give an email address. What happens to what you type.

What I take on

How can I help?

I've worked in these areas for years, and I show earlier jobs for each. If I won't take a job on, I'll say so. Where I can, I'll still point you in a sensible direction.

Mobile app development

I build apps for iOS and Android from one shared codebase. Where needed I also add device connections, face or fingerprint login and offline data.

  • One codebase for both platforms (React Native, Expo)
  • Bluetooth devices connected to the mobile app, with separate Swift and Kotlin code
  • Data handling that works without internet
  • TV apps for tvOS and Android TV

Web systems

I build customer portals, admin interfaces, reports and online shops. I make sure they run quickly and stay easy to fix later.

  • Fast web interfaces that search engines can read (Next.js, React)
  • A consistent look, with interface components reused across the product
  • Less code to download, faster loading
  • Automated tests

Back end development and system connections

I plan how data is stored and who can see it, then connect the systems you need. I also write down how they exchange data.

  • Back end and API (Fastify, NestJS)
  • A written description of how systems pass data to each other (OpenAPI, Zod)
  • Databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Connecting invoicing, CRM, payments and chat

Hosting and releases

I set up hosting so that the system can be updated and restored after a failure.

  • A written description of how the cloud setup (AWS) can be rebuilt
  • Approved changes automatically become a new release (GitHub Actions)
  • Every change passes automated checks before release
  • I set up releases to the App Store and Google Play, and updates that skip store approval (OTA).

Planning the build

I help sharpen the idea, plan the build and decide how we will measure the result.

  • I pin down what is actually needed
  • I plan what fits into each stage
  • I measure how people start using the app, and what for
  • Development that follows medical and banking rules

AI features and AI-assisted development

I build features on top of language models, and I write down how I checked them.

  • Language-model features that run on a server or on the device
  • I plan for cost and response time from the start
  • I check separately that every requirement is met
  • Documented test results and release checks

Work

What I've built and what came of it

A selection from my work since 2021. For each job I describe the task, my own role and the decisions I made. Where there are figures, I show the results too.

All work
Personal safety, map app2024 onwards

A night-walking app that suggests the safest route, not the fastest

SafestWay · Founder Engineer

SafestWay shows the safest route, not the fastest one. To do that it works through millions of records on crime, street lighting and cameras.

When this could help you

If you have a lot of map data to process and want one developer who designs everything from the mobile app to the database, this is the work to look at.

Finance, premium servicesJanuary–July 2026

Premium services and a customer management system for a digital bank

Monument (UK digital bank), via Nearform · Product Platform Engineer

Five screens can be updated without releasing a new app version, and every release can be traced back.

When this could help you

If you want your team to change content or rules themselves, without booking a developer every week, this is how it can work.

AI products, privacyJanuary–April 2026

AI that runs on the device, with no cloud, for desktop and mobile

Tether Data (QVAC programme) · AI Product and Cross-Platform Runtime Engineer

The same interface runs on desktop and mobile, in five different environments, even without internet. The tests I handed over can be run by the client themselves.

When this could help you

If customer data, or health or legal data, has to stay on the device, I know how to make AI run on it without a cloud.

Healthcare, regulated softwareJuly–December 2025

Class IIa medical software: offline data handling and Bluetooth smart injectors

Florio GmbH (a Sobi subsidiary, Munich) · AI-First Lead React Native Developer

The medical software handles patient data without internet and connects to Bluetooth smart injectors. Every release can be traced.

When this could help you

If your app connects to a measuring device, a gate, a printer or a sensor, I can also build the code on the phone that talks to it.

Digital therapy, AIMarch 2024–January 2025

Personalised therapy suggestions from GPT-4 in a mobile app

Credo Therapies · Lead Product Engineer – Mobile, AI UX & Delivery

I added personalised AI suggestions to a therapy app. I measured how fast they responded, and the cost of using them could be tracked.

When this could help you

If you want an AI feature, I will plan how we measure what it costs to run, how fast it responds and what people use it for.

Process

From day one you can see what is happening.

I put in writing what I promise, show you the finished work every week and invoice by phase. The source code is yours, and the domain and accounts are in your name.

  1. 01To start

A free 30-minute call, or an email

Tell me what is not working or what you would like. You can email me or book the call. After a call I write up what we agreed.

  2. 02Next

    Itemised price and tasks

I write down what I will build and how I will divide the work into stages. I explain the risks and what I need from you. If no discovery is needed, I send the itemised proposal after the free call. Otherwise, you receive it at the end of discovery, together with the written plan.

  3. 03After the proposal

We agree the work and the payment

We write down what the work includes, what is left out, what is one-off and what is monthly. I invoice by the agreed stages and I do not ask for a large deposit.

  4. 04Weekly, while the build runs

    Building, with a weekly demo

Each week I show you what is finished, and you can try it yourself. If we change the plan, we put that in writing.

  5. 05At the end

    Handover and running it

I hand over the source code in your own repository, with the documentation. The domain and accounts are in your name. You can ask me to run it for you, but you do not have to.

The first 30-minute call is free. Tell me when you're free and I'll reply with a time →

How I use AI

I spend the time AI saves on checking.

I use AI tools every day. The time I save lets me run more tests and review the work more closely.

  • Clearer requirements. From your description I make a table of what I will do, what is left out and what we still need to settle. You can read it before any building starts.
  • A separate check. I review the finished code separately when it touches login, data handling, payments or moving data.
  • You get the test results too. At handover you get the results of the automated tests, recordings of the mobile app in use and the check report. That way you can see for yourself how the finished software works.
  • I count the running cost too. When I build an AI feature, I plan for response time and the model's usage cost from the start.

What I put in writing

The code, the accounts and the documentation are yours.

The code and accounts are yours
The domain, hosting, App Store and Google Play accounts and the source code are yours from day one, with full access.
I put what I promise in writing
We sign a contract, I give you an itemised proposal and I invoice stage by stage. No large deposit, no “we'll see”.
A reply within one working day
I reply within one working day. If I will be out of reach, I tell you beforehand. With the handover documentation, another developer can pick the work up.
No compulsory maintenance
Running it is a separate monthly item you can ask for. If someone else takes over, they get everything they need.

Prices

What could development cost?

Here you can see what you get for a code review and for discovery, and what a first development phase starts at. For regulated data, device connections or a very large project, the free call is followed by paid discovery. Otherwise we decide on the call whether you need it. If you don't, I send you a final itemised price in writing afterwards. If you do, you get it at the end of discovery, together with a written plan. If you carry on with me, I credit the fee for the code review or discovery against the price of the next step.

These amounts are illustrative. The price list is not final yet.

Code review

2 working days, within a week
€520
Launch offer: introductory price until the end of 2026. After that: €880.

In two working days I go through your system or app and recommend in writing what to do with it. The first 30-minute call is free.

You already have a system or an app, and you want to know what state it is in.

  • I go through the code, the server and how a new version gets released
  • A list of what is risky and where we should start
  • A written recommendation: fix it, extend it or replace it
  • A 30-minute walkthrough call

At the end you get the written material, and then you decide whether to continue. If we don't, the material is yours and you can take it to someone else. Net prices. VAT is not included.

Discovery and plan

5 working days, within two weeks
€2,150

You are planning something larger, or it is not yet clear exactly what needs building.

  • A table of what is needed, what the build includes and what it leaves out
  • A phased plan: what gets built first and what comes later
  • A sketch of how the system fits together and what it connects to
  • An itemised proposal for the first development phase

At the end you get the written material, and then you decide whether to continue. If we don't, the material is yours and you can take it to someone else. Net prices. VAT is not included.

First development phase

3–4 weeks (12–16 working days)
€5,200 and up
You see the starting price. The final total depends on the job.

You already know what you want and you want the first version in front of real users as soon as possible.

  • A usable first version in which the most important workflow already works
  • Interface design for the key screens, if you do not have your own
  • Automated tests and a set routine for releasing new versions
  • I set it up so you can see how many people use it and what for
  • A conversation about how best to carry on

Net prices. VAT is not included.

If you're not sure which one fits, book a free 30-minute call and we'll work it out.

What does the price depend on?

  • Features you need: for a first version I count only what is essential to get started.
  • Connections to other systems: your invoicing software, CRM or payment provider has to be connected separately, and that carries some risk.
  • Data you handle: personal data, or data under special rules, means more checking and more documentation.
  • Device connections: to connect a Bluetooth device, sensor or printer I write a separate piece of software, and I test with the device itself.
  • Existing system: extending or replacing an existing system can cost more than starting from scratch. It depends on the state of the code.

A deadline or a budget doesn't change the price of the same work. With a tight deadline fewer features fit, and with a tight budget I suggest a smaller first phase.

Sample estimates, same calculation

ExampleTimeEstimated price
Field app for 40 technicians
6–13 weeks€9,600–22,700
Internal system instead of Excel
6–15 weeks€9,600–25,900
Automating manual admin
2–4 weeks€3,000–7,000
Health app with a device connection
7–16 weeks€11,400–28,500
Discovery needed: regulated sector, device connection

These are illustrative estimates, worked out with the same fixed rules I use for every estimate. They are not proposals. To get one for your own project, book the free 30-minute call.

About

István Orbán here. I design and build your software, and I answer for my work.

I have been writing software since 2015. I lived in Bolton, England, from 2016 to 2026 and worked for British and international companies, on site, hybrid and remote. I worked at Missguided and PrettyLittleThing. Through Nearform I built for a digital bank, and I took part in Tether's QVAC programme. I have also worked on medical software and on a live sports streaming platform. As SafestWay’s founding engineer, I am building an app that suggests safe routes for walking at night. I am now based in Kecskemét, Hungary, on CET, which overlaps the UK working day, and I take on work for British, Hungarian and other clients.

Good to know

  • I work alone: one developer, not an agency. If a job needs more people, I will tell you up front.
  • I am based in Kecskemét, Hungary, after ten years in Bolton, England (2016–2026). I work remotely, on CET, which overlaps UK hours. I have no office, but I can meet in person in Kecskemét or Budapest by arrangement.

Questions

What most people ask.

Why not an agency or an in-house developer?

At an agency, the person you talk to is usually not the one who builds. Finding an experienced in-house developer can take months. With me you talk directly to the person doing the work. I look after the mobile app, the web interface, the back end and the hosting, and I am responsible for the result. If a job needs more people, I will tell you up front.

What happens if you disappear or get busy?

We work under a written contract and I invoice stage by stage. The code sits in your own repository, with documentation. If I will be out of reach, I tell you beforehand. Another developer can take the work over.

Who owns the code and the accounts?

You do. The domain, hosting, App Store, Google Play and cloud accounts are in your name, and the source code is in your own repository.

How much does it cost? Why is there no fixed price list?

Because I need to know the job exactly before I can give a final price. For a code review or discovery, I write down in advance what you get. The prices on this site are illustrations. For the first stage of a build I show a starting price, for other work an estimate, and I explain what moves the figure. The sample estimates follow the same fixed rules I use for every estimate. To get one for your own project, book the free call. If no discovery is needed, I give you the final itemised price in writing after that call. If it is needed, you get it at the end of discovery, together with the written plan.

Do you really work with AI? Then why isn't it cheaper?

Yes, every day. I put the time it saves into testing, review and documentation. I am still responsible for the decisions and for the finished work. The fee covers that work and that responsibility.

Can we work in English?

Yes. English has been my working language for ten years, in British and international teams, and I use it every day. Hungarian is my first language, so I work in that too. I do not claim to write like a native English speaker, but the documentation comes in plain English.

Do you build websites too?

Yes, if the website is an important part of how your business runs. I design it around your business, plan how it looks and make sure it loads quickly. If a template site is enough, there are cheaper options, and I will say so.
